Avery Belle is the man who lives among them. He is a mysterious, world-weary cowboy arcanist—a supernatural investigator—who has been dealing with this hidden reality for a very long time.
The story opens by establishing the deep roots of the terror lurking in the American landscape before jumping to the present day. Avery is called to the small town of Odette, where a series of bizarre, escalating phenomena, reminiscent of ancient plagues, begin to manifest.
The investigation quickly connects these supernatural events to a generations-long, violent land feud between the powerful local Garrison and Reilly families. When the feud suddenly turns monstrous and threatens to unleash an apocalypse upon the low-country, Avery Belle must intervene to unearth the terrifying truth behind the cursed land and the families’ bitter rivalry.
This issue is pitched as a horror-noir blend of Elmore Leonard and Stephen King, throwing the reader into a world where modern problems meet mythical, terrifying solutions.
