This issue is a dramatic turning point in the tragic story of Christine Spar, the second Grendel, and the storyline that introduced the legendary adversary, the wolf-man Argent.
The new Grendel, Christine Spar, is now entirely focused on her goal of destroying the man who wronged her, the ruthless kabuki master Tujiro XIV. She has fully embraced the Grendel identity, which is now overwhelming her personality and sense of morality.
The battle finally culminates in a brutal, fateful confrontation. The legendary fight pits the high-tech, aggressive Grendel against the unstoppable, monstrous ferocity of Argent the Wolf.
The issue resolves Christine Spar’s time as the anti-hero, forcing a final, deadly outcome that leaves both Grendel and Argent permanently marked. Furthermore, the issue concludes the “Devil’s Legacy” arc by confirming the new, dark direction the Grendel curse/identity will take, moving it into the hands of a new, perhaps less-willing host, the unfortunate Brian Li Sung.
